Hey Reader, Are you livin' the glamorous party lifestyle? Well, how could that look like?! Getting around a lot you might suggest. Being a very social person, going to restaurants and bars, traveling and enjoying la dolce vita. Hmm, sounds pretty promising to you Reader, right? My perfect version of living la dolce vita is to sit in a tapas bar in Spain, snacking on shrimps with lots of garlic while drinking a glass of good rosΓ© wine. Or...are you doing the other extreme - living the ultimate Hermit lifestyle? That means, barely socializing. Not going to fancy places. Feeling a deep inner peace while spending time at home. Here's my favorite version of that one - preferably on a Sunday: 1.) staying at home all day wearing pajamas 2.) ordering a pizza 3.) barely talking to anyone. Is that also you Reader sometimes? I believe you can combine both versions without overstretching either of them. But very often we as humans like doing extremes, am I right? Like living on junk food and all of a sudden becoming a full-blown health nut π€·ββοΈπ³ Being a party animal and then turning into a super religious fanatic. Hollywood stars are maybe the best example of this. I mean, just look at Madonna. She must have gone through all the extremes and lifestyle fads that ever existed on earth! Sometimes I wonder why moderation is something that seems to be such a struggle? Is the answer really as simple as: we as humans just love living in being all in - or not doing it at all? My favorite must be the vegan social media nutrition and food influencers who suddenly turn into full-blown carnivore evangelists. Yes, I've seen this on social media many times. Balance and moderation look very boring on paper but it is still the ultimate life hack for inner peace and wellbeing IMHO. Just like the advice to eat 3 meals per day. Might not sound glamorous, but it makes sure that your blood sugar is balanced and that you don't faint from hunger all of a sudden... Also, you don't have to get up at 5 am every morning in order to succeed in life - as much as people on the internet love preaching that to you - but if getting up at 8 am is more your thing, you can still be as successful as the 5 am folks. I have no other choice though than getting up at 5 am because otherwise my cat tries to convince me that she is starving! Find the moderation that works for you and only for you, no matter what the rest of the world is trying to tell you. And I believe you can totally eat ice cream three times per day and be fine even though health nut evangelists might tell you you should be drinking three kale smoothies per day - yuck π€’ I guess the trick here is to figure out your version of balance - not what's working for your neighbor or your friend from high school you haven't spoken to since 2002, or the famous kale-smoothie influencer from Instagram. Do you struggle with balance in life? Are you jumping from one extreme to another from time to time? Hit reply and share with me π₯³ - and don't worry, I won't judge you ever! xo Phyllis P.S. feel free to share this email with any of your friends who might have fun reading this! P.P.S. don't overdo those kale smoothies please! They're not good for your thyroid unless your goal is to surppress your metabolism...DON'T! β |
